Object Redesign
FOUN245 Idea to Object | Spr 2026 | Prof. Doyle Trankina
This object redesign project explored the visual communication of form through technical drawing and design presentation techniques. Students reimagined an existing object and communicated their design through a series of orthographic projections and perspective drawings, developing the skills necessary to represent three-dimensional form accurately across multiple viewing methods.
The project required three orthographic views, two perspective drawings, a color element, a detailed callout, and hand lettering to create a comprehensive design presentation. Wireframes were constructed on 14" × 17" Bristol paper, while final inked drawings were completed on vellum to achieve clarity, precision, and professional presentation quality.
Through this process, students strengthened their understanding of drafting conventions, visual hierarchy, and design communication while learning to present a refined concept through both technical and graphic representation.
